We accept the love we think we deserve."
The truth is that I started reading this book after seeing the movie twice, so I already knew the story.
When I first watched the movie I had no intention of reading the book, but then I watched it the second time and I loved it even more than I've loved the first time so I thought: "Yeah... this movie seems incomplete and I liked it so I'm sure that the book will be so much better and more complete and I'll love it even more!"
Yap, and once again I WAS RIGHT!
"So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both hap"py and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."
This story is passed in the 90's which is really great. It is about a 15 years old boy named Charlie... and he is a wallflower as you can imagine.
Charlie listens to everyone... He runs away from his problems and gets into the other people's problems. When someone tells him anything he listens and doesn't tell anyone.
This boy has a LOT of trouble in his life, he is not normal and he knows it! Basically he started to feel this way when his aunt Helen died in a car accident because she was getting his birthday present.
Now, he's trying to change his life. He's trying to "participate" and talk to people... to make friends, but there's a part of him that still can't to that.
Then, Charlie starts to hang out with Sam and with Patrick. Sam is a beautiful girl (older than him) and Patrick is her "brother" and he's gay.
WARNING! Spoiler ahead!!!
[I feel kind of stupid because I saw the movie twice and I've read the book and I didn't get that Charlie was sexual abused by his aunt Helen! Seriously, I didn't get it... I suspected, but I wasn't sure of it so I was searching on internet and BABANG!!! She really did it to him...
