I heard a ton of mixed opinions and feelings about this book, about this story... a lot of people said that this story was totally "freaked" up., and that it was totally stupid, that this book was creating a bad image about women in general... but there were people saying good things about this book... so what's better than read it yourself and decide what you think about it for yourself?
When I first heard about this book I said "NO, I'll never read this book"... and I have a pretty good reason for that quote of mine... I thought that this book was about "abuse", about bondage... and yes, it is about bondage, it is about erotica... but it is NOT what I was expecting it to be. The main reason why I thought that this book was crap, that it was seriously about an abusive relationship was because I was paying too much atention to people commentaries... people were saying that this book was encouraging brutal sex, it was encouraging violence... and I can assure you that that statement is completely false.
When I first started reading this book (and I have to be straight with you), was because I heard that the movie was coming out this year, in February... and I watched the trailer and I kind of liked it... I heard the soundtrack and I loved it... I asked my mom about the story (yes, because she read this book back in 2012 or 2011 I don't really know) and she told me ACTUALLY what it was about... so I got interested in it and I ordered the trilogy, YES, the entire SET... but if you ask me right now if I intend to watch the movie?! NO.
Now... once again... when I started reading it I asked on Instagram if people had read this book and what did they think about it... and I had a lot of answers but the MAIN answer was: "I hated it because of the writting style" or something like that... of course that I had people saying that they loved it, that it was pretty good... people saying that they didn't like it but I should read it and see if I would like it for myself... and there were persons saying that I souldn't read it at all... and to be honest I was preplex looking at the comments that were "saying" to me not to read the book.
About the writting style... contrary to what some people said to me about this book I liked the writting style a lot. It's true, it took me some time to finish this book but it was not because I was not liking it, it was not because it was not a light writting style... NO, it took me some time to finish it because I didn't have a lot of time to read and because I was kind of tired to be honest... I loved it, and it was a really fast read.
CHARACTERS: wow, ok, let's start with Christian. As you may know Christian is one of the main characters... actually this story is about him. He's SUPER DUPER HOT and I just simply love him.
Anastacia is the other main character, and she's the one narrating the story... she gets me out of my nerves sometimes but I love her anyways.
So basically I liked every single character in this book, the only one I disliked was José, but I can't tell you why because that's considered spoiler.
Back to what I said in the beginning... this book is not about abuse... it has not abusive language or abusive "acts"... everything that happens in this book, everything that happens with Anastacia is because she asks to... it's because she agrees with it... I don't really know how to explain this to you but I'll try it again.
When people say that the male character is using force and abusive methods with the female character is because those persons didn't read this book... it's like someone talking about football and not liking it, I mean... if you don't like adult/erotica books then you have two options: don't read it - or read it but rate the book thinking that it was your choice to read this story... I mean, if you don't like certain book genre I think that that's obvious that you are not going to LOVE or even LIKE an adult/erotica book... so obviously that you can give 2 stars or even 1 star to a book of that genre (because you don't like that kind of book and that makes sense), but why people have that need to criticize when it was THEIR OWN option to read a book that they know for sure that they'll not like? THAT my friends... that's what I call REAL masochism... so before you criticize an author because of his/her book just make sure that you know what you are talking about... I mean, if you are used to read erotica/adult books and you read this book but you hated it... ok then, you are right, maybe you have the right to criticize... but if you are used to read chick lit or dystopian books... wow, just stop there... how can you criticize an author writting his/her own genre when you don't understand anything about that same genre?
SOO, finishing here my HUGE review... obviously that I recommend this book to everyone! If you want to read it just do it and forget about what other people think. If you want to love it just love it, if you want to hate it just hate... but GIVE IT A TRY!
