“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.”
First of all: I LOVED this book so much that you can't even imagine! I cried like the biggest baby in the whole world...
Second: I seriously don't know how to start, or what to say because I'm really speechless and ... this is crazy, and these 5 stars are really massive!
When I bought this book I loved everything in it. I liked the cover a lot and I loved the kind of story that it was... and then when I started reading it I was like (WOW! This is awesome!)... and this is awesome because it is really well written and the story is very good in all possible and imaginable ways.
What I liked the most in this story was the 'love' and the relationship between the main characters... and yes, if you've read it you know that the main characters are brother and sister... if you didn't, now you know it because I told you... and come on... if you read the back of the book you can read it, so for all the matters I didn't spoil you!
“I mean, at the end of the day, what the hell does it matter who I end up with if it can't be you?”
I have to say that while I was reading it... and I mean the entire book (all the pages, all the words...) I was so frustrated... and I'm not saying this in a bad way k'? I am saying this in a really good way... if that's possible of course. I was 'frustrated' and 'mad' with some characters and not with the book... or the story... I was getting crazy because of their mom (yeah yeah... maybe this is time for a little spoiler). I just blame their mother for what happened to them, they fell in love? yes... but that was almost inevitable because they were alone every single day taking care of three younger brothers (actually: 1 girl and 2 boys) while their 'lovelly' mother was with a guy, while she was getting drunk... and I'm pretty serious when I say that I don't blame them for what happened. Think about it... if you were the oldest kid in the 'family' after your brother (and imagine that he's just one year older than you), if you two had to take care of a bunch of kids alone and if your brother/sister was your only serious friend... I mean, I really think that that's is a pretty 'normal' thing to happen - fall in love!
"How can someting so wrong feel so right...?"
While I was reading this book and when (sometimes) I talked to my mom about it I was always saying: 'Why is that considered a crime?'' - and she said: 'Because that's anti-nature'.
Most of the people may think that that's is really 'anti-nature', and I know that that's probably not a wrong thought... but 'anti-nature' for me is not a crime... it's just... homosexuality can be considered anti-nature right? but that's not a crime, and everybody knows that. Nowadays people have better accepted 'homosexuality' but people can't accept the fact that two people of the same family and the same bloodline are in love?... for me that's insane... love is love, even if they are brother and sister... that's still love, and you can't change that just because you don't like it... yes, they have the same parents in common and brothers and sisters and even the same surname... and they know each other since they were born... and what? they are two different people, they were just born with the same mother, they didn't ask that.
I think that that's important to say that before I've read this book I was kind of skeptical about love between brother and sister, incest and all that stuff... and now I'm not anymore...
Sometimes, when you read... you learn important things, you learn how to accept different people, you learn how to 'live' with someone... when you read about a story that's completely different from yours... it gives you something to think about, it gives you a different side of the world, a different side of life... and you are ALWAYS learning something, even if you think that that 'something' is not important, it is... because one day, if you find someone that has a similar story to what you already know you'll be capable of understanding better than you understood before, you'll understand better than other people.
