Synopsis: "When Alexis' little sister, Kasey, becomes obsessed with an antique doll, Alexis thinks nothing of it. Kasey is a weird kid. Period. Alexis is considered weird, too, by the kids in her high school, by her parents, even by her own goth friends. Things get weirder, though, when the old house they live in starts changing. Doors open and close by themselves, water boils on the unlit stove, and an unplugged air conditioner turns the house cold enough for the girls to see their breath. Kasey is changing too. Her blue eyes go green, and she uses old-fashioned language, then forgets chunks of time.
Most disturbing of all is the dangerous new chip on Kasey's shoulder. The formerly gentle, doll-loving child is gone, and the new Kasey is angry. Alexis is the only one who can stop her sister -- but what if that green-eyed girl isn't even Kasey anymore?"

I wanted this book for a long time, it was on my wishlist since ever... and now I own it because I found it on a bookshop of used books, and it was not expensive at all... so I bought it and I started reading it almost right away because I really wanted to get into this book since I really like horror/paranormal/ghosts books...
I have to be honest and say to you that the beginning of this book was pretty slow... I was not getting interested in the story, I was getting bored... but then BOOM, something changed and I just started reading the story faster and faster and when I stopped reading it I found that I've finished the book.
I can say that I really really enjoyed this book, I found this story really interesting, the way this book was written is just amazing...
I'm now a fan of Katie Alender... I've never read a book written by this author, so this book was the first one... and I really loved it, so obviously that now I want to read the other two books of this trilogy and I really want to read other books written by Katie... actually I'm pretty excited to read more books of this author.
I can't say that the main character is fabulous, I can't say that I loved Alexis... because I didn't... she's basically a typical young adult protagonist... sometimes she was quite annoying, but I kind of understand her because in this book the main problem was her sister... so I think that everyone would've done the same thing she did (and I'm not going to say much about this subject because I don't want to spoil you).
About the romance in this book?... I don't really know if we can consider that this book has some kind fo romance in it, I don't think that there is a lot of romance actually... I mean, there's a boy and there's a girl... and they kind of fall in love with each other, but I don't feel like that's an important fact in this story, I mean... I actually feel like there's "romance" because everyone want romance in every story they read... BUT I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that I would not consider this book as the typical romance/paranormal/horror book...
The most important thing about this book was that I actually got quite scared sometimes... I mean, I've read some other "horror" books and some of them didn't scare me, and that made me feel disappointed with those books because I wanted to be scared (yes, I'm weird)... and this book was kind of creepy... like... a ton of times!
As I said before I really want to read the rest of the books of this trilogy and I plan on do it soon... so it's not the "continuation" or the "sequel" of this story because the three stories are different, the three stories have different characters and different plots... but I really enjoyed the way this author writes, so I want to read the other books soon.
I obviously recommend this book to everyone because it was pretty AMAZING!
