“Sometimes choice works like that. One person's choice is another's loss of choice.”
Honestly I was expecting to love this book and that didn't happen at all...
I wanted this book since I can remember, I was obsessed with it and I really wanted to own it because this story seemed really interesting and when I bought it I thought that it was going to be one of my favorite books ever because it sounded really interesting (robots, sci-fi, dystopian...) but the truth is that I didn't find this story as interesting as I thought I would... actually I didn't find this story interesting... period!
Despite all those problems I gave to this book 2.5 stars (I know, that's not the best score ever especially because this 2.5 stars means 2 stars on goodreads - for me of course).
After all, I kind of enjoyed some parts of the story, but just some parts, because most of the time I wanted it to end... in my opinion, at the beginning it was quite boring... I mean, a LOT boring, and the reading was really really slow, but then I started to get used to the story and the characters and all of those 'cute' little things...
Basically this book takes place in the future... it is passed in 2049... I mean, the story begins in 2049... and human kind is losing hope because women can't have human kids, they only can have robots... some people have human children but they are truly rare!
Tania Deely is the main character and she has been told that she's human... one of the few human kids in the entire world... so she thinks that she's a rarity.
Most children are sophisticated androids manufactured by Oxted Corporation, and these sophisticated androids are a creation of near-perfect human copies called teknoids.
Teknoids do everything that normal people do. They eat, drink, sleep... they do pretty much everything... this may sound strange but they feel and dream too, so basically they really are perfect human copies.
As I said before Tania Deely is the main character of this story, and this book is written like it was a diary (Tania's point of view).
The book starts when Tania is only eleven years old, and then, she roughly turns 18. The beginning of this story is quite awful, it is quite awkward and confuse, but it kind of gets better as it goes.
This book is about the nature of humanity... so basically the reader has to deal with a lot of issues that were explored by the author... and maybe that's why it turns out to be quite intriguing (and sometimes boring).
I know... the summary seems really interesting... but that is what I was telling you! The summaries always seem interesting, but this book is not!
“While you live, choose, and by your choices, make the universe richer.”
I really can't say much about this book because I'm really afraid that I'll spoil you... I don't want to say too much about the story because, in my opinion, the only reason it is quite interesting is because of that 'mystery'... some things that you have to find out and understand for yourself... and believe me, if I tell you what the entire book is about it will not be a interesting reading... and because of that... I'm out! I'll not say anything more.
